Morgan Stanley RIA, On Holiday Dies In Accidental Drowning in Antigua

Morgan Stanley VP Ryan James Vollmer, 44 died last week under suspicious circumstances after a hotel party in St. Johns Antigua

Ryan Vollmer, 44 above swimming on this beach last week drown at 1am following a party he attended at the Galley Bay Hotel in Antigua. Local police continue an investigation to determine possible suspicious circumstances.

Police reports indicate that Vollmer was a listed as a guest at the Galley Bay Hotel, apparently had just returned to the hotel from an outing, and decided to go for a swim.

A new friend of the deceased, who he met while on holiday noticed he appeared to be intoxicated, and tried unsuccessfully to persuade him not to enter into the water.

Despite the warnings, he entered the water and shortly afterwards disappeared. His body was later spotted floating face down in the water, and appeared to be dead. He was pulled ashore with the assistance of staff and guests at the hotel on December 19th.

Dr. Beazer later arrived on the scene and pronounced him dead. He arrived on the island on Wednesday 14th December and was due to leave on Wednesday 21st December. Further investigations are ongoing into the matter.

Vollmer's body was recovered around 1:00am. Following the early morning drowning of a 44-year- old American tourist, a paramedic is warning visitors not to become reckless on vacation.

The strong caution comes from board member of Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue (ABSAR), Johnathan Cornelius, who says sometimes tourists leave their common sense at home.

According to the paramedic that pulled Vollmer's body out of the water “What happens with a lot of people when they’re on vacation… they’re doing more aggressive things than they would at home, maybe they’re drinking more alcohol in some cases; taking chances that they wouldn’t ordinarily take. amazing how many people think that they are immune for accidents, illness, and injury when they’re on vacation,” he explains.

Police Spokesman Sergeant Frankie Thomas confirmed that Ryan James Vollmer, who arrived on island December 14, was retrieved from the water at Galley Bay Hotel by guests at 1 am. Thomas says preliminary reports indicate that the man insisted on entering the water after he returned from the Sunset Party at Shirley Heights on Sunday, despite warnings from friends.

The visitor who was due to depart the island on Wednesday was pronounced dead by Dr Beazer shortly after he was discovered floating face down in the water.
