Chadwick Boseman’s Widow to Cover his Parents’ Burials, Not His Estate

(NY Post) - Chadwick Boseman’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, will be covering his parents’ burial plots — not his estate.

A source told Rolling Stone that Ledward would be paying for the plots after the judge in charge of the late Marvel actor’s $3.5 million estate rejected the $23,951 bill.

Leroy and Carolyn Boseman’s crypts will be located next to the “Black Panther” star’s own, and Ledward is looking for reimbursement after she paid for her in-laws’ plots “adjacent” to Chadwick’s in September 2020.

Chadwick was put to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, SC, after his death from colon cancer in August 2020.

His widow is now an administrator of the action star’s estate and she believes that the plot costs qualified as covered expenses. After she submitted the bill for court approval, the judge denied the request; however, they did reimburse $47,662 for other funeral costs.

The amount also included the $8,000 Ledward paid to Boseman’s manager, Chris Huvane (as he forked over the cash to rent the funeral reception locale).

The outlet confirmed on Thursday through Ledward’s lawyer that she agreed to pay for Boseman’s parents’ entombments after the court’s denial.

Chadwick and Ledward tied the knot a short time before his untimely death. They got engaged in October 2019. The pair were first seen together in 2015 soon after she graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2014.

Chadwick kept his illness a secret and was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2016. “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From ‘Marshall’ to ‘Da 5 Bloods,’ August Wilson’s ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,’ and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy,” his team said in a statement at the time.

“It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in ‘Black Panther.’ He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side,” it continued.

The Howard University alum passed away without penning a will and Ledward will send in a petition for final distribution to the judge by Feb. 22.
