Does Sophie Turner And Joe Jonas' High-Profile Prenup Actually Split Their Property Fairly?

(TheThings) - Joe Jonas' sudden divorce announcement from Sophie Turner in September 2023 shook the entertainment industry.

The announcement started a public sparring that turned messy in the early stages. Joe Jonas seemingly abruptly decided to split from Sophie Turner, and Turner responded to being blindsided by his decision. However, the ex-couple reached an agreement and quietly continued with their divorce proceedings.

While the proceedings are on the way for the former lovebirds, it was revealed that Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner had an ironclad prenuptial agreement that protects their interests. But how well does the high-profile prenup agreement help with property share?

Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner's High-Profile Prenup Agreement Seems Fair

Joe and Sophie's prenup seems to be airtight

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner had big careers before they got married. Nonetheless, the ex-couple still backed up their marriage with an 'ironclad' prenup agreement, which protected their interests.

While the prenup of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner states that they get to keep their assets before marriage, they will split joint assets/properties. Therefore, there shouldn't be financial disputes between the separated couple.

This makes the prenup fair when it comes to sharing properties. The ex-couple will keep the earnings from their work but split whatever came after their marriage.

For joint properties, the couple reportedly shared their marital home in Miami, Florida. The 14,000 square feet of living space with a waterfront and dock for boats was one of the houses the couple lived in, but it was the most important property they shared.

However, Sophie and Joe quietly flipped the mansion for $15 million — a million short of their purchase price of $16 million — before Jonas filed for divorce weeks later. This move was a speculated foreshadowing of the ex-couple’s impending separation.

The couple had only owned the Miami mansion for a little over a year, having bought it in 2021 for $11 million and renovated the property into a modern mansion.

But contrary to talk of an impending divorce, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner were reportedly planning to buy a forever home in England. The plan for the English countryside home in Oxford was to be a permanent home for the Jonases to raise their daughters, affirming Sophie Turner's claim when she filed a suit against Joe Jonas for allegedly keeping their daughters from her.

However, with the home sales to be finalized in December 2023, it hasn't been clearly stated if talks fell through or if the ex-couple is going through with the plan to buy the house and one buys the other out.

The only property, therefore, that the couple will be splitting up is the Miami home they have sold already.

What Other Things Will Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner Split?

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have more than just property together

With the Miami mansion sold and the decision to keep the country home in England not clarified by the couple, the only other thing to sort out with their ironclad prenup is child custody and support.

Sophie Turner reportedly wants to move their daughters to England. After a mediation, Turner and Jonas decided to share parental rights, and it is speculated that Joe Jonas will likely pay child support.

The temporary custody deal between Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas allows their daughters — Willow and Delphine — to spend at least two weeks with each parent. The parents are allowed to travel with the kids while they have custody.

The custody case may be handled in Miami, and a court there will "establish child support by the Florida Child Support Guidelines, including consideration of health insurance," per court documents, notes Perez Hilton.

Who the daughters will be with permanently is yet to be decided, with the custody battle continuing in 2024.

Why Is Joe Jonas Likely to Pay More?

Joe Jonas could be on the hook for child support

Although Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have a high-profile prenup that prevents any financial dispute during the divorce proceedings, it may seem Joe Jonas will be getting less from the split with his ex-wife, and it may have to do with his earnings.

If Sophie Turner gets child custody of their two daughters, Joe Jonas will have to pay child support. Depending on the terms both parties conclude on, the child support could be a substantial amount, which will include health insurance. This also factors in Turner moving the kids with her to the UK as planned before the divorce.

Joe Jonas may also end up with primary custody of the children. He had his daughters on the road with him while he toured with the Jonas Brothers, and Turner was on the set of her upcoming drama.

Regardless of the outcome of their divorce, Jonas and Turner want an amicable turnout, but it may likely fall on the JoBro.

That's because the "Sucker" singer has more income than his ex. He has an estimated net worth of $50 million he made from music with his band, Jonas Brothers and DNCE. After being in the industry for over a decade, he has amassed substantial wealth through his music royalties, tours, and film projects (Camp Rock, Jonas, and Jonas L.A.)

He also has other business ventures. His co-owned beverage brand, Ohza, specializes in canned cocktails like sangria and mimosas.

Sophie Turner's net worth is about $12 million, which she primarily earned from her role in Game of Thrones. Sophie Turner played Sansa Stark for eight seasons, a major character in the ensemble cast.

She has also appeared in two X-Men films - X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. And she has an upcoming British crime drama, Joan, in production.

Both parties have agreed to share parental rights, in which they both raise and provide for their daughters financially. However, Joe Jonas will likely pay more because he earns more than his ex, Sophie Turner. This could later change if Sophie Turner's income is more than the singer's.

Their properties are intact and safely guarded by the ironclad prenup both signed before their union. However, Joe Jonas will have to be more financially responsible for his daughters.
